A Note About Their Godparents

Just a quick note about the boys' Godparents.

Dave and Michelle are Fletcher's Godparents. Jesse met them when he was working in Cuba. He worked with Dave and Michelle certified Jesse in Scuba Diving. Dave and Michelle met in Key West, FL and got married just before relocating for Dave's job in Cuba. Then they moved to Germany just after we did. Which is where Anna met both of them for the first time. They all worked in Heidelberg, except Anna...who worked in Mannheim. We hung out a lot and went on a couple trips, but spent more time in restaurants, pubs, and house parties around the area than anything else. Anna also got scuba certified by Michelle as well. Before we moved to North Carolina, Dave and Michelle moved back to Key West. He is former military and she is current government and Coast Guard. A few years ago, they moved up to Virginia. They are great people and we're lucky they are close enough that they can visit us or we can visit them...although we always feel like it should be more often than it ever is...ahhh...such is life, right?

Joey and Janet are Holden's Godparents. Anna met Janet in elementary school and Joey in high school. She graduated with Janet and Joey was a year behind us. Anna has several memories of Janet...including playing in the neighborhood when we were kids, picking her up from her house with my bike before school and watching her feed her cats. She also had the grey and pink ten speed that all girls wanted back then. Memories of band, choir and volleyball in junior high. Memories of student council and other extra-curriculars (although we were into different things) in high school. Joey and Janet started dating in high school. (Most memories of Joey are linked to Janet or to his sister, Angie...Although I also have completely separate memories involving his brother Jeremy and then his brother Casey delivered the furniture Jesse and I had ordered before we got married!) After college, Janet and Joey got married and moved around a little while he was playing baseball before settling back in Phoenix where he is a firefighter and she is an event planner. Janet read scriptures at Jesse and Anna's wedding, but mutual friends of ours were also getting married on the same day at the same time, so she joined Joey back at their wedding, where Joey was a groomsman. They are wonderful people and we are lucky that we go back to Phoenix enough to meet up with them "regularly," but of course...we wish we lived closer so we could just hang out with them more often. At least they like to travel, so we could always meet them somewhere else or have them stay with us too!
