We may have a little improvement in the eating and drinking situation with Holden. I am cautiously optimistic. Here's how the month has gone. Although he is all smiles in his bib from Guatamala (from Aunt Amy) and the "Here Drools Holden" bib (in German, from our friends Kim and Christian), Holden still doesn't seem to like to eat.
He shows interest in food when we are eating and tries to grab at it if he can. He'll also take a spoon to play with while I take another to feed him, but most times he just spits it back out at me or gags. It's very time consuming and I just hope he decides to eat food one day.
Here he is with carrots.
I even thought he'd enjoy finger foods more, so one day I just decided to give him some mashed banana. He showed interest, but didn't really eat it.
I tried the same with avocado, but you can definitely tell by the second and third picture that he wasn't liking it at all.
Instead, he goes for this. Yes, dog food. (Now I have to put the dog dishes on the counter.) He'll also eat blades of grass like they are fine cuisine. I don't get it!
I took some food down to SC with us on our trip to see if he'd eat when someone else is feeding him, but we never got around to that trial. He did, however, eat some cereal and sweet potatoes on two different occasions while I was feeding him and I was surprised.
When we got home, there was one day that he ate an ounce of acorn squash followed by an ounce of butternut squash. I thought we may have reached a turn around point in this endeavor, but...it hasn't happened since despite my efforts. Now...we all have had this relentless cough since we got home, along with some other minor symptons, so maybe he just wasn't feeling well. The question is: Do I count this as a little improvement?
