Holden Rolled Over!

On June 7, 2012...at three months and two days old, Holden rolled from his front to his back. Here's his picture right after it happened. This confirmed my sneaking suspicion that he was on the verge of this milestone and was waking himself up at night while he practiced in his sleep. (Or so the experts suggest.)

The next day, on June 8, 2012...Holden decided to turn from his back to his front! Here's his picture after that happened!

Since then, he has immediately rolled from his back to his front countless times. In fact, after a horrible night of sleep continuously waking up within every single hour...twice, he fell asleep on the ground. I put him down on his back and he'd roll over, get upset, and then become silent. He'd have his eyes open one second and shut the next...sound asleep on the floor. I would move him to the crib and he'd do the same exact thing.

I was worried that he wasn't getting enough tummy time because I can't leave him on the ground unsupervised all that much with Fletcher in the vicinity. So, I kept wondering if he'd be developmentally delayed with the milestones that stem from time on the floor. Well, I'm not too worried anymore. He rolled both ways before Fletcher did, not that it's a contest. It's just Fletcher had a lot more time to himself on the floor.

Not only is Holden flipping over, but he does the worm as well, moving himself forward, or he pivets enough to pinwheel himself around. He's already managed to cover a couple feet of space on the floor and wedge himself into the corners of his crib in just a few days! I'm scared to write this, but since he flips himself onto his belly, he's sleeping for longer periods throughout the night, which is super nice for Mommy, and since he's asleep right now, I'm going to roll over and go to bed myself!

When Caroline was about 8 weeks old she went from sleeping well to sleeping horribly. It wasn't until we would let her sleep on her belly that she finally started sleeping well. There is a thing called an angel care mat that you put under their matress that has an alarm if it doesn't detect certain movement related to breathing. I have never used it but just heard about it.
