While we were in Avon, Oma and Opa Williams came to visit. Then Jesse started to look into the direction that they were headed (Southern Utah) and really wanted to go to Moab for a couple nights to see The Arches National Park and Canyonlands. So, we decided to go to Utah! On the way, I wanted to see Colorado National Monument. So, we stopped near Grand Junction, right after we entered the park and had a sack lunch. Fletcher and Holden took turns with Mom and Dad at the picnic area before we drove through the park, stopping at various outlook points along the way.
Fletcher liked to play with the rocks when we went on a walk.
Here is where we ate our lunches.
Then we started driving through the park. I believe it's a 23 mile road along the rim. We started on the east side and worked our way to the west, since we were heading in that direction. Here are a bunch of pictures!
Once we exited the park, we stopped at McDonald's to use the bathrooms and Jesse got a treat for us to share. Then we were on the road toward Moab. The hardest thing about today was the amount of time the kids had to be in the car. That wasn't fun for any of us, but what can you do?
Since we were driving right past the entrance to The Arches, we stopped to get the pass for our car and check out the visitor's center before heading on to the Super 8 that would be our home for the next two nights. We ordered take out and got settled in just in time for bath and bed! Again, Fletcher did a great job sleeping on the pull-out bed in one room while the rest of us were in two doubles in the bedroom. We had a big day ahead of us the following morning.
