Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta

Holden's first Valentine's Day was spent at the Georgia Aquarium, where he and Fletcher enjoyed the day almost as much as Mommy! I have been looking forward to visiting this aquarium for years...since my former principal (three bosses back) came back to Germany from a trip to Atlanta and raved about it! So, we headed out as soon as we could to beat the security lines and enjoy as much of the world underwater as we could before nap time.

We were within walking distance to the aquarium and other major attractions in downtown Atlanta, so that was very nice. After entering, we took some lobby pictures. They were announcing their new sponser and mascot today, so all of the former mascots were in attendance too.

Then, it was on to see some oceanic life! Yay!!!

One of the unique attractions at the Georgia Aquarium is the large tank that holds a few whale sharks!

There were bubbles throughout that Fletcher enjoyed looking through. We even poked our way out of a bubble in the penguin exhibit. (You won't see penguins in the picture though.)

A close second to the whale sharks for me, were the beluga whales.

Then we took some time to pet some rays and baby hammerhead sharks.

During picture time by this big window, the boys decided it would be more fun to play than smile.

We also saw turtles, an albino alligator, and jellyfish. Then we went to a special frog exhibit they had.

Included in our ticket was admittance to their dolphin show, which was much more theatrical than just showing off dolphin tricks. Holden slept through the whole thing, loud music and crowds and all. Fletcher loved it. We took one break during the day to eat bagged lunches that I made, but we were able to see all of the attractions and walked back to our hotel for some down time later in the day. Happy Valentine's Day!

P.S. I will post some video clips in a different post.
