While we were in Colorado, we made a day trip to Steamboat Springs. Our first stop was in the Routt National Forest, where we decided to hike the easy trails to Fish Creek Falls. We went to the overlook spots first. Then I went back to the car to nurse Holden while Jesse took Fletcher to the base of the waterfalls. He enjoyed throwing rocks in the river...surprise, surprise!
After our hiking stop, we went into town and ate at a fabulous little creekside restaurant called Creekside Cafe and Grill. From there, we made our way out of town to Strawberry Park Hot Springs. There are hot springs in town that they have also made into a sort of waterpark, but we decided to drive up the mountain a bit, the last 5-10 miles of which were unpaved, and enjoy the hot springs on the mountainside. It was worth it for a couple hours.
After we got dressed in our swimsuits in this little cabin shared with all the patrons, we took turns with Fletcher in the springs and holding Holden in the lounge chairs. It was a weekday and there were only a couple other groups there. I think we missed the majority of groups that were probably there earlier in the day and through lunch. After a few dips in the hot springs, we hit the road and returned to Avon!
