Fourth of July at Myrtle Beach

We ended up having a nice little family getaway to Myrtle Beach, SC over the long weekend. Jesse was supposed to be gone right now and back in the fall, when we were going to do something nice for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. Well, the schedule was changed and left us searching for ways to use our timeshare before September. There was NOTHING open anywhere, but then...a great opening happened at the last minute and it's only a two hour drive from our house! So, away we went!

Each morning we went to the beach. Then we went back to the hotel for lunch and naps. During nap time, I would go read in a hammock on the property...it was so relaxing! After that, we would head to the pool, which had a large pirate ship and octopus slide, and larger water slide, along with a splash pad and other water fun in the kid area. There was also a lazy river and a few larger pools to play in. By the end of the few days, Fletcher was going down the octopus slide all by himself!

Here are some of my favorite pictures.

Now, here are some collages. Holden rode facing forward for the first time on this road trip and he was out before we knew it.

Here is the one picture I got at the pool. Otherwise, we were both busy holding one of the boys.

What is it about the fold out bed? They loved it! This was Fletcher's special bed for the weekend.

Holden's first beach was Southern Shores, NC last June, but he was in the shade and I don't think he ever went in the ocean or played in the sand. This was a much different trip to the beach this year. In fact, this was the first beach that both of the boys actually played in for the first time. Fletcher played in the sand here in November 2010 even though his first beach experience was in Kitty Hawk, NC that previous summer.

We used some rocket molds to make our own popsicles for the boys. "...And the rockets red glare!"

We had to take their pictures in their special 2013 American Flag shirts from Oma.

We got a winner! Happy Fourth of July!

The boys looked like they had a good time! Do they both like getting into the ocean? Can't wait to take Hadley to the beach sometime next year!
