Before I cover Christmas, I thought I'd include a couple pictures from just before we left. Fletcher found a new seat in the kitchen, helped himself to avocado and baklava on the counter, and showed me he knows how to use deoderant.
We went down to South Carolina to spend Christmas at Jesse's parents' house. He hasn't been there for Christmas since our first Christmas after moving back to The States. His father was released from the hospital and rehab facility a few days before we invaded. It was good to see them and spend some time there. Since they've been spending most of the Christmas Season at the doctor, in the hospital, or recovering, we brought the Christmas tree and stockings with us this year...along with ALL of the presents we had for Fletcher at our house. The car was packed and even more so on the way home.
Here's Fletcher with the tree and gifts, the stockings by the fire, and peeking in the oven to see if dinner was ready.
We tried some Q-tip watercolor painting before passing out gifts.
Then we all watched Fletcher open his gifts.
Before we left for church, we got to see Buddy surprise Claudia with a project they have talked about doing for years. Quite the collection for his career.
Here we are before going to church.
Here he is sporting his new Christmas pajamas with the rest of our gifts by the tree.
After he went to bed, Santa stuffed his stocking and brought more gifts.
The stockings were hung by this time.
Christmas morning, I thought he would just notice the truck/car combo and the rocking chair, but he ran straight for the gifts by the tree first and we had to distract him with the truck until everyone was ready to open gifts.
We had breakfast and Fletcher passed out hugs and gifts again.
Once everything was opened, he played and relaxed with Knuckles, who was also given a loot.
Here's a copy of the Christmas letter and Christmas card for 2011.
