Thanksgiving 2010

Great Aunt Ramona, Great Granny, Oma, Mommy, Fletcher

Two days after Fletcher and I got back to NC from our month long trip to CO and AZ, we hit the road to Myrtle Beach, SC for the week of Thanksgiving. Each Thanksgiving is a big get together for Jesse's extended family and they typically meet up in Charlotte, but this year, we put everyone up in one of the timeshare properties in Myrtle Beach. It turned out pretty well! Everyone had space, but we all managed to meet up and do different things like go to the hot tub or play mini golf. I went to Dixie Stampede with Angel and D.O. We had several game nights and I took Fletcher swimming a few times. We had the traditional Thanksgiving Feast and part of the group had their traditional crazy shopping adventure.

Here are some pictures of the timeshare property. We were in the top right room of the building shown. Ramona and her crew were in the top left and Pete and his crew were in another building.

Fletcher got to see Great Aunt Nel and Great Uncle Pete.

He also got to see Great Granny and Jesse's cousin, Stephanie and her husband Jefferson (Jake) and their son, Zac (not pictured).

And he got to see Jesse's cousin Angel, her husband D.O. and their son, Austin.

The side of the family that gets together each year is Buddy's side. However, Claudia is from Myrtle Beach and part of her family still lives there. So, we went to Great Uncle Joey's house and visited with him and Great Aunt Rachel. Great Granny lives in an apartment built on to their house, so we got to see her too. In addition, Fletcher got to meet Great Uncle Virgil as well, as he was visiting from Louisiana that weekend.

I got a picture of Fletcher in the larger convertible car seat on that short trip because this was the first trip where he was in that car seat. (The one to Myrtle Beach, not the one to Great Granny's.)

I got a picture of Great Granny Frances with her three children, Claudia, Joey, and Virgil and then one of the three children.

We then made a quick stop at the house they grew up in. Granny's husband, Ashley (Claudia's father) built this house and the wood interior is pine. A few years ago, Granny moved out to Joey's and sold the property. Now it serves as a business, but they let us in so I could take a look at it and the memory gate could flood for Claudia.

And what is Thanksgiving without fun and food? Fletcher had fun while eating...

And fun learning to climb over things and pull things down...

And was just a happy camper most of the week! (Even though he still hadn't started sleeping through the night again, as I had hoped he would do when we got back from AZ.)

We also went to the beach, but that will be a separate post! Happy was Thanksgiving 2010, but we missed Daddy who was sick so far away. We wanted to hug him and take him to the doctor, but we were thankful shortly after that to hear that he was feeling much better.
