The Big One: Take Three!

We finally had Fletcher's third first birthday celebration! All of our plans changed during the month before his birthday, so we ended up celebrating his big day a month later than we anticipated. We had friends and family over for a party at our house with pizza and cake. The main attraction was all the children that were able to celebrate with us! These were the best two pictures. (I guess I should have been standing to my left, according to the second one.)

Everything ran smoothly. We thought he might fall asleep during the party because he had been out of sorts and running a fever the previous two days. He was extremely restless the night before the party. But he made it through the party and then the sugar from the cake and pizza hit his system and he enjoyed having the house to himself for a couple more hours before crashing for a nap...that only lasted about an hour! Needless to say, he went down rather quickly that night!

Here are more family pictures from that day.

Here are the cake and decorations.

The piece above was created for him by a childhood friend of mine, and phenomenal artist: Vivian Nguyen. Please click on her name to check out her work! On her blog, she also has a link to her website.

Here's the piece he ate and the candle in place.

Here are the guests.

Oma, Opa, and Great Aunt Ramona          Matt, Claire, and Lauren

Joe, Matt, Jen, Clay, Hank           Noah, Kristy, Matthew, Olivia

Adelle and Annabelle

Before the party, we had him open gifts that had been sent this way. He had fun with the tissue paper, bags, and boxes. (Later he had fun with the contents.)

We also got some good pictures with Opa.

During the party, he heard "Happy Birthday" again and got to have dessert again too!

The Lego Cake was a hit with everyone...it took over two hours for me to put the icing on!

Here's the big birthday boy who was lucky to have three birthday celebrations this year! (As you can see...he still found something to cry about.) I have to say, I'm happy I bought the birthday shirt, since he got to wear it at least three times!

We also gathered more items and monetary donations for MUSC Children's Hospital. Thank you! We will be sure to post when we have completed that aspect of his birthday.
