The week after Jesse left, I took the boys to his cousin's house in Snow Hill for two nights and one full day of fun with Angel, Derek, and Austin. Austin is 8 months older than Fletcher. I was expecting a weekend of intervention after intervention, given their ages, but I was also looking forward to a visit with family that we don't see enough and I couldn't wait for them to meet Holden! The two hour drive is the perfect amount of time in the car. Holden slept both ways for the majority of the trip, so that was just amazing! Fletcher fell asleep for the last 25 minutes of the trip there but didn't sleep a wink on the way home. When we got back home, they both took really long naps, so I wasn't the only one tuckered out! We had a great time and hope to get these little rascals together again in the next couple of months.
We arrived on a Friday afternoon and I felt like it was the calm before the storm. I hadn't unloaded the car and Austin wasn't home yet. But, I was proven wrong. The boys played extremely well together! They sat at Austin's table to eat dinner too.
After the boys had some dinner and play time, Austin wanted to have some alone time with Holden. He just adored the baby. (These pictures look worse than it was...he was just loving on him.)
The next day, the boys were up pretty early and we all took turns napping to catch up on our lost sleep. First Angel, then me, then Derek. After we were all up for good, we headed over to the pool around 11:40 and brought lunch with us. It's great that Angel's allowed to use the pool at her work. They don't have to maintain it, it's only 10 minutes away, and it's open all year! My boys loved it and I always look forward to getting them in the water. Luckily, Sean, one of Angel's friends was there and a great set of extra hands to help with Holden while I worked on some things with Fletcher.
Holden enjoyed the trip just about as much as Fletcher and Austin. He couldn't do exactly what they were doing, but he had fun dragging himself all over the floor with his new army crawling capabilities.
This is the view on their back porch. It's so peaceful and serene...I mean, aside from dealing with three little boys and having to remind Fletcher for the umpteenth time to keep the sand over the sand box...but the wine was tasty.
Again, Austin enjoyed some one-on-one time with Holden after Fletcher was in bed for the night.
Before leaving on Sunday, I was sure to take pictures of Holden with the new part of the family that he met! We tried to get all the cousins up on the couch for a picture but a certain someone was nowhere near a mood to cooperate. He also did not listen and follow directions well, or treat his new friend that nicely that morning. So, it was probably a good thing we kept the visit short and sweet...for the most part. Then we hit the road and a short two hours later, we were home.
